I understand how important your scissors are to you.
I mean, you can’t work without your scissors and there’s nothing worse than having to use your “B-team” scissors or even having to borrow scissors while you wait for your equipment to get back to you.

Send your scissors to me and I’ll get them done and back to you quickly in tip top condition so that you can go back to doing your best work with your best equipment.

If your scissors arrive at me on a Tuesday, you will have them back by not later than the Friday of that same week! No matter where in SA you are! I may even surprise you by getting them back to you sooner.

Scissors and Thinning Shears

I use specialist professional scissor sharpening machines. Including an 800 grit diamond wheel and for fully convex scissors I use the Hira-To® advanced single head flat hone. Each scissor is finished by hand on a Japanese water stone if appropriate.

I also sharpen Thinning Shears and not only the blade part of your thinners but also the teeth/ comb part, so when you get them back you will be amazed at how much better they cut.

Very importantly I can sharpen true Left-Handed Scissors and Thinners too.

Your Scissors and Thinning Shears are taken apart and not just sharpened but fully serviced.

To service delicate hairdressing scissors correctly takes time, effort, and skill along with specialist machinery.

If required bumpers/stoppers, pivot screws, washers, spring plates will be replaced all-inclusive of the above price.

Finger rests and ring inserts are available at a small additional cost.

Dog groomers and Parlour and Mobile Parlour Owners

I used to be a dog groomer and later on I had a very busy mobile parlour, I understand the need for a fast turn around time on scissor and blade sharpening. If you can get your equipment to me by a Tuesday I guarantee that I will have it back to you by the Friday of the same week, possibly even sooner. If you can bring me your scissors and blades then I can have them ready for you to collect within two working days!

Dog grooming scissors, straight, curved, thinners and chunkers

All types of dog grooming scissors and thinning shears can be sharpened including true left-handed ones.

Many sharpeners are not taking dog grooming scissors apart to sharpen them. But I do take them apart as it’s the only way to know if any springs or washers are needing replacing. So, your grooming scissors and thinning shears will be taken apart and checked for any damage and any bumpers/stoppers, pivot screws, washers or spring plates will be replaced at no extra cost to you. Finger rests and ring inserts are available for a small extra amount.

Sharpening grooming scissors correctly takes time, effort, and skill along with the correct tools and machinery. I use an diamond wheel for grooming scissors, this makes them sharper and they keep their edge longer than just using a standard scissor sharpening wheel.

I also sharpen Thinning Shears and not only the blade part of your thinners but also the teeth/ comb part, so when you get them back you will be amazed at how much better they cut.

Dog Clipper Blades

R70 per set

All types of Dog Clipper Blades A5 & A2 and most other makes and models can be sharpened. All steel blades are sharpened on a dedicated hollow ground clipper honing machine.

Ceramic Blades can also be sharpened. These are done by hand on a Duo Sharp Bench stone

If you are sending in more than one set always keep the sets together. The comb and cutter are best kept together in their respective pairs.

(Examples of brands of blades are Oster, Aesculap, Andis, Heiniger, Lister, Buttercup etc)

Please note that All clipper blades are Demagnetized before being packaged and returned

You may notice some red fluff when blades are returned, don’t be concerned as this is just part of our final testing process when red fake fur is used to test each blade for sharpness.

Dog Nail Clippers

R50 per set

So long as they come apart and are not riveted, they can be sharpened

Veterinary scissors

R50 each

All scissors can be sharpened including left-handed ones.

Scissors will be returned to you sharp, cleaned and oiled

Horse Clippers and Sheep Shearers

R70 per set

Horse clipper blades and sheep shearing blades are also sharpened on a dedicated hollow ground clipper honing machine.

They will be properly cleaned and sterilized and then oiled before returning to you.

If you only have a few sets you are welcome to pop in and wait while I sharpen them for you.
